In line with strict actions being taken against dal hoarders in other states, the Odisha government food supply department officials on Friday raided and sealed a godown for allegedly hoarding pulses beyond permissible limits.
"The food supplies and consumer department has sealed a godown at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar. The stock has not been seized. This may be done after verifying stock," said state Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma.
Dasburnma said the godown was raided by department officials following an input by market intelligence.
"We have sealed the godown. Appropriate action will be taken against the trader after verifying the quantity of stocked pulses, Ravi Narayan Barik, ADM, Khurda said.
However the trader denied any illegality in stocks.
Dasburma said he has asked the traders to hand the price list of pulses as rates vary from market to market.
This apart the district collectors have been told to keep a vigil on the hoarding of pulses in their respective areas, the minister said.
