Rail roko: The Odisha unit of BJP Krushak Morcha staged rail roko at different stations in Odisha as part of the Morcha&’s national agitation to highlight the farmers’ plight under UPA rule. The farmers’ wing of the BJP sought, inter alia, implementation of Swaminathan Commission report and also the Hooda Commission report, alleging that the UPA government has been sitting over the recommendations for years. In Odisha, rail roko stirs were organised in Nuapada, Titilagarh, Jeypore, Sambalpur, Berhmapur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak and Cuttack etc.
Sankirtan stir: Peeved at the alleged indifference of the state government, Nikhila Utkal Sankirtan Mahasangh, which represents  nearly one lakh Sankirtan artistes throughout the state, has decided to hold a mass rally and protest meeting at Bhubaneswar on 12 February. More than 5000 members are expected to participate.
Child artiste: Mr Dharmendra Pujari, a student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has been awarded as the best child artiste by the state government for the telefilm ‘Kahani Nuhe’, said a release issued by KIIT. It is a film by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, sponsored by Dr Iti Samanta and directed by  Himanshu Khatua.
