North Orissa University (NOU) has decided to introduce ‘Yoga’ as a self financing course. The university is already conducting 17 self finance courses and will add ‘yoga’ to the list informed vice chancellor Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra while inaugurating a eight-day long yoga camp in the varsity campus organized by the NSS.

Professor Mishra said the syndicate of the varsity had approved the introduction of ‘yoga’. The mission of the university is to provide quality education to students, providing a state of-the art curricula and syllabi and promoting entrepreneurship amongst the students of its affiliated colleges of Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts. “The important thing is keeping our health, health creates fitness of our body. Body fitness is only possible through ‘Yoga’, he said.

He encouraged students that practicing of ‘yoga’ has more value during study period not it more responding benefits after old age. It keeps mind concentration which has important for educational carrier for students.

Programme Coordinator Pramoda Kumar Satpathy, Prof. M. Himabindoo department of Computer Application, district programme of ficer (NSS), Mayurbhanj unit Usha Satpathy and district programe officer for Keonjhar district Swarupananda Panda and others were present at the inaugural function of the yoga camp.
