After assisting sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan obtain a UK visa, Keith Vaz, the British parliament&’s longest-serving Asian MP has called for a review of the immigration rules in such a way that they encourage Indians to visit and work in the country.
Expressing his delight at Amjad Ali Khan getting a visa, Vaz said Britain adores the music of the sarod maestro and thanked the staff at the British High Commission in New Delhi for dealing with the issue promptly.
"We need a long hard look at the immigration rules so that they are seen to encourage Indian people to visit and work in the UK. This is especially so after Brexit,” Vaz said.
“The UK must always be seen to be open to the rest of the world," he added.
Amjad Ali Khan will be playing at a concert scheduled for September 2016.
