In a rain-related mishap, four members of a family~ including the couple and their two kids ~ were killed when the wall of their thatched house collapsed and fell on them.
The four met the tragic end while asleep in their house in Jagatsinghpur municipality area late last night; however, the bodies could be retrieved only this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Litu Das (35), his wife Sujata (28), daughter Sonali (3) and six year old son Bablu. The couple&’s seven year old daughter, Sarbani, was away at her uncle&’s place when the accident took place.
The neighbours informed that the walls of the house had got weakened due to the incessant rains in the last couple of days, which led to the mishap. 
“We heard a loud sound and rushed to the house. We found that the walls have caved in. But we could not remove the debris due to rain and darkness. We informed the district administration and municipality officials about the matter immediately,” said a neighbour.
Chairman of Jagatsinghpur municipality Mr Biplav choudhury and sub-collector Mr Brajbandhu Bhol rushed to the spot in the morning and engaged their staff to clear the debris and recover the bodies.
Registering a unnatural death case, police sent the bodies for post mortem to Jagatsinghpur hospital.
Meanwhile, irked locals staged a road blockade seeking compensation. The district administration has announced a total of Rs 6 lakh for the family.
“We will give Rs 1.50 lakh each for the four deceased towards compensation,” said an official.
It may be mentioned here that the total number of wall collapse related deaths during flood reached six with the Jagatsinghpur mishap. Two similar casualties were earlier reported from Ganjam district.
