tehsil officials allegedly connived with mineral looters

The district administration suspended five officials of Darpan tehsil on corruption charges today.
The five officials, who faced the music for allegedly acting in connivance with minor mineral looters, include three revenue inspectors (RIs).
Collector Anil Kumar Samal passed the suspension order after being directed by the revenue divisional commissioner (RDC) Dr Arvind Kumar Padhee who came across the irregularities during his visit today.
The suspended officials included Mr Ramesh Chandra Mishra, RI, Samia; Mr Pagari Gilua, RI, Bayree; Mr Saran Kumar Jena; RI, Solar; Mr Ajay Kumar Jena, additional RI of Bayree and Mr Bipin Rout, a class IV employee. “Being directed by the RDC, I placed five officials of Darpan tehsil under suspension on charges of corruption and dereliction of duty. The mafias were lifting minor minerals illegally from the sairats and government land in connivance of the erring officials,” said collector Anil Kumar Samal.
Significantly, the RDC has asked the revenue administration to take action against a particular company which is accused of lifting minor minerals illegally without obtaining permission from the concerned authority.
Meanwhile, Dr Padhee reviewed different people&’s utility services during his visit to the tehsil and regional transport office (RTO) at Chandikhole.
Interacting with the tehsil staff, he stressed on issuance of caste, income and residential certificates to the students and the job seekers on priority basis.
The RDC directed the RIs to protect government land from the clutches of encroachers and raise revenue to the state exchequer by leasing out all sairats. He also instructed the employees to complete all the assigned works within the stipulated time and adhere to norms.
