A delegation of traders from European countries have expressed keen interest in sourcing leaf plates and plant containers from Odisha while acknowledging the potential of the state as a major exporter, claimed senior officials here.
According to official sources, Ms Hana Meiners, a German National and a representative of Leaf Republic Ltd., a plant container manufacturer company, held discussions with MSME secretary Mr Panchanan Dash on the sidelines of the Odisha MSME International Trade Fair 2014.
“Quite impressed with the potential in Odisha for export of leaf plates and plant containers, Ms Hana Meiners exuded confidence that Odisha can become a major exporter of thee items to European as well as other countries overseas,” said a senior official here.
Quoting Ms Meiners, he claimed that the demands of eco-friendly and healthy plastic products are high in European countries and the need of these hygiene products have been growing day by day in western as well as other countries.
“She, however, stressed that the entrepreneurs here should maintain international standard and quality while manufacturing these products,” he said.
MSME secretary Mr Dash expressed happiness over the keen interest of overseas buyers for Odisha products at the workshop organized on export opportunities as part of Odisha MSME International Trade Fair 2014, being jointly organized by MSME department and National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC).
The state Government will extend all support and cooperation in facilitating export of the products from Odisha to interested buyers overseas, he added.
Welcoming the interest expressed by the European traders for sourcing products from Odisha, director, export promotion and marketing Mr BK Das said efforts are being made to make Odisha and export hub in SME business by creating opportunities for the export of MSME products.
Efforts will also be made to aware the MSME entrepreneurs in Odisha on how to maintain international standard and quality in manufacturing so as to fulfill the demand for exports.
