A Chinese navy's hospital ship arrived at the Colombo port for a four-day stopover, Sri Lankan officials said on Monday.

The ship named "Peace Ark" sailed into the port on Sunday in its first visit to the island nation, reports Xinhua news agency.

The ship will be open to the public and provide medical services, said Major General Guan Bolin, task commander.

It is expected to visit Djibouti port, Freetown port in Sierra Leone, Owendo port in Gabon, and Pointe Noire port in Congo.
