Chinese smartphone player Motorola on Friday launched three new “Moto Mods” in India which are modular backplates that can be magnetically attached to Moto Z series smartphones and turn the device into a movie projector, boombox or a battery powerhouse.

The new “Moto Mods” include the JBL SoundBoost 2 speaker Mod, Moto TurboPower Pack battery Mod and the GamePad Mod that will be available at Flipkart and all Motorola exclusive stores “Moto Hubs,” starting December 17.

“We have upheld our commitment to build a better mobile future with the promise of limitless possibilities, through the new Mods,” Sudhin Mathur, Managing Director, Motorola Mobility India, told reporters here.

The JBL SoundBoost 2 will be available for Rs. 6,999 and claims to give the user party-like music quality with 10 hours of playtime. A new app called “My JBL SoundBoost 2” will let the user adjust the sound.

The Game Pad Mod will cost Rs. 6,999, allowing the user to transform the phone into a hand-held gaming console. It has dual-control sticks, D-pad and four action buttons for a true gaming experience along with a 1035mAh built-in battery.

Moto TurboPower Pack Mod will be available at Rs. 5,999 that will add an extra day of battery life to the Z series device, the company claimed.

The company has also collaborated with “RentoMojo” that will let customers experience these latest Moto Mods before buying them. The users can rent a Moto Mod for a week at Rs 399, starting December 23. The service will be available in eight metro cities, the company said.
