Facebook to bring new ‘greetings’ features soon, starts testing

Facebook users will soon be able to send a variety of ‘greetings’ to interact with their friends in a unique way. Apart from ‘Poke’, now you can send a wink, a high-five, a hug and a wave.

According to a report in The Nation, the options are under trial in Britain, Thailand, Australia, Canada, Columbia and France, and the feature has been released in line with the tenth anniversary of the poke.

Under the ‘Hello’ button on you friend’s profile, the new options can be seen by just holding the button. On a desktop, a simple hover over the ‘Hello’ button will show the alternatives. These work in a similar way the ‘Reactions’ on a photo or status work.

Facebook introduced the ‘Hello’ button in June and placed it at the top of people’s profiles. The new greetings also have an undo button for an accidental send.

Last week, Facebook announced support for live streaming via Facebook Live and video chatting in Messenger chats. The users will be able to record these live streams so that they can be posted to the profile afterwards.

“To start recording, just press the “;tart Live Video’ button. Once the broadcast ends the video will be published to your Page or profile so that fans and friends who missed it can watch at a later time. You can remove the video post at any time, just like any other post,” added blog.
