A volcano erupted in Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula, prompting the evacuation of Blue Lagoon and the nearby town of Grindavik, CNN reported citing Iceland's public broadcaster RUV.
A volcano has erupted on the Reykjanes Peninsula of south-west Iceland after weeks of intense earthquake activity, the national meteorological office said on Tuesday.
The Ibu volcano in Indonesia's North Maluku province erupted on Tuesday, prompting authorities to warn locals and tourists to stay away from the area.
The Mayon Volcano in Philippines' Albay province is "quietly erupting", authorities said on Thursday.
The spokesman said the Unicef is awaiting government confirmation before transporting prepositioned emergency supplies from Fiji and Brisbane, Australia, warehouses.
The eruption of Merapi in the main island of Java was detected 2 km from the crater, according to the report.
"Together we can express our sorrow for those who have died and been hurt and our support for their grieving families and friends", Ardern added.
The volcano erupted on Monday afternoon when 47 tourists were visiting the privately-owned island located 48 km east of North Island.
The announcement comes as attempts to recover the eight people on the island who are missing, presumed dead and likely to be covered in ash.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed some of those caught up in the disaster were foreigners. "We know that there were a number of tourists on or around the island at the time, both New Zealanders and visitors from overseas."
