Mamata chairs meet to finalise TMC civic body poll candidates

Trinamul leaders are concerned about both Asansol Municipal Corporations (AMC) and Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). In last SMC poll, Left Front formed the board and Mr Asoke Bhattacharya was the Mayor. But in this year’s Assembly poll, CPIM candidate Asoke Bhattacharya was defeated by BJP. So Trinamul has now two opponents in SMC -BJP and CPI-M.

Verdict in Tripura

Elections could not be held in seven “urban localities” and the BJP secured victory without contest. This is the first occasion when Trinamul contested the polls on its own in a state other than West Bengal. Suffice it to register that Bengal’s ruling party, with a negligible presence in Tripura, has now emerged as the principal opposition in the state with a vote-share of more than 20 per cent.

Trinamul maintains Tripura push with eye on polls

"The Trinamul did not come to Tripura to further its ambitions. We have come to stop BJP and its communal anti-people policies. We will have to stand united against the BJP government of Tripura and uproot them,"

Effectual Dirigisme

Quite the most striking feature of Wednesday's presentation was that cash would be transferred directly to as many people as feasible. This is easier announced than accomplished not the least because the number of potential beneficiaries has been indeterminate even on budget day, let alone the formalities that will have to be observed. The economic condition of the people, most particularly in rural Bengal, has to improve if the state is to be rescued from the cusp of poverty. Dirigisme must of necessity be beneficial.

Trinamul celebrates Nagarik Divas

“We are observing the foundation day of @AITCofficial as ‘Nagorik Dibas’ (Citizens’ Day) in every booth of #Bangla. We all are citizens and Trinamool will continue to fight for the rights of the people. Jai Hind. Jai Bangla. #Trinamool22 Today @AITCofficial turns 22. The journey which began on January 1, 1998 has been full of struggles, but we have been steadfast in our resolve to fight for the people. We thank Maa-Mati-Manush for their constant support. Our workers are our biggest assets,” Miss Banerjee tweeted.

Trinamul remembers Singur movement martyrs

Most of the senior leaders of the ruling party, including Singur MLA Mr Rabindranath Bhattacharya, Haripal MLA Mr Beccharam Manna, Uttarpara MLA Mr Prabir Ghosal, the Hooghly district Trinamul president Mr Dilip Yadav and state minister Mr Tapan Das Gupta, were present on the occasion.
