Enraged by the incident, the family members of the deceased vandalized a dozen houses in the neighborhood and set them on fire.
The incident came hours after Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Ramdas Athawale claimed that the condition of Dalits in the state had improved under the BJP regime.
The incident took place in the Lodhipur village under Chabilapur police station on Wednesday. The reason for the incident was a land dispute between two cousins, Mahender Yadav and Parsuram Yadav.

'A case has been registered against 10 accused out of whom 6 people have been arrested so far. Further investigation underway,' Additional SP, Ballia told.

According to UP DGP OP Singh, firing took place after the villagers protested when Dutt went there with allies to take possession of the land which he had purchased two years ago.
