The Facebook as a social media has a number of uses but a novel one is that of a notice for missing children.

A colleague narrated how he received a number of Facebook messages to help identify lost children. In one such message, he recounted, someone had posted a photograph of a child sleeping in a train compartment for seven hours without any accompanying adult. In another, the picture of a child found injured by a railway track by the police was posted with a request to help identify him and a plea that a minute could mean life to a child.

While one does not know how successful the Facebook has been so far in tracing lost children, but it is a powerful medium that could be put to good use by the police as well. Miracles are always there to happen, but why take a chance?
