The pre-paid metro card of Delhi Metro is meant for hassle-free travelling.

Frequent passengers usually recharge their Metro cards on a monthly basis to avoid the long queue of tokens or card recharge.

Many a parent undertakes this task or give their children enough money to recharge their card for a month. However, for many students, these Metro cards also serve as an ATM card. How?

A colleague’s brother said that quite often, his classmates, who are regular Metro travellers, use their card to watch films or eat at a restaurant.

What the youngsters do is that whenever they are short of money, they forfeit their card and get the entire debited money back. They keep aside enough cash to buy a new card for Rs.150 and top up twice or thrice during the rest of the month.
