Paul Clement has switched to a three-man defensive system and will hope packing the midfield will allow the Swans to make life difficult for Manchester United.

Up front, in the absence of the injured Fernando Llorente, Tammy Abraham will be leading the home sides’ attack and his physical presence at set-pieces will be key to their fortunes.

Their scoreless draw against Southampton on the opening weekend had plenty of positives but the fact that playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson departed for Everton after that tie has deflated the optimism in Wales and the minnows will be desperate to script an upset.

Jose Mourinho has made no changes to the team that thrashed West Ham in their opener, with Juan Mata retaining his place despite an sub-par showing. Anthony Martial, who scored a well-taken goal against the Hammers, starts from the bench, as does Ander Herrera. United’s travelling support will hope that Romelu Lukaku will build on his opening day brace and will count on support from Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in attack, with Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba partnering in midfield.

Swansea City: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez (c), Bartley, Mawson, Olsson, Roque Mesa, Fer, Carroll, Ayew and Abraham.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia (c), Bailly, Jones, Blind, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan , Rashford and Lukaku.

Match starts at 12.30 PM GMT/5 PM IST.
