Reacting to Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday, Hotspur’s manager Mauricio Pochettino said that the players’ hard work finally paid dividends.

“The first goal helped us and the way we scored – you always need that little bit of luck, that luck that wasn’t there for us against Watford or West Brom,” said Maurcio, adding, “The team always showed good performance and when you keep going and work hard, the reward always arrives.”

According to www.tottenhamhotspur.com, Mauricio said, “It was so important to get the three points. I’m very pleased and now we keep going and prepare for Wednesday (Brighton at home) because tomorrow we start again. It’s dffcult to enjoy too much…as a coaching team we cannot stop to enjoy, we always think about helping the team to be ready to compete again.”

Meanwhile Harry Kane, who struck twice in his team’s victory, was in full praise for Sonny who had  a fantastic game on Saturday. “Sonny had a fantastic game. He got us started with a great cross (for the first goal) and in the second half, a great finish as well (for 2-0). We needed that, we needed to start sharp and it was great to win and win like that, that was important,” Kane was quoted by the official website of Tottenham Hotspur. Says

He added, “We’ve had a tough spell in the Premier League recently and we wanted to put that right. We were all up for this one and we said we had to get ahead because we’ve been going behind and having to chase the game against teams like Stoke, it’s difficult to get back in it. It was brilliant to get that goal and in the second half we were on fire.”

Happy with the win, Heung-Min Son said, “We showed at 2-0 that we had the confidence to play, everyone wanted the ball, everyone wanted to score. We had even more chances. We’re really happy to get these three points.”
