Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ecstatic over his newest signing, Mohamed Salah, as he feels the Egyptian winger will give the reds more of an attacking threat next season.

The 25-year-old completed a reported £36.9 million move on Thursday by agreeing to a long-term contract with the club, which will officially begin on July 1, 2017.

While the club have not confirmed the fee, the Egyptian is now the most expensive Liverpool signing ever ahead of former striker Andy Carroll (£35 million).

“His pace is incredible, he gives us more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area. I like that we will make it even more competitive,” Klopp was quoted as saying by the club

“Mohamed has the perfect mix of experience and potential – this is a really exciting signing for us,” Klopp enthused, adding, “He knows the Premier League, he has pedigree in the Champions League and he is one of the most important players for his country”.

Klopp added that he has been tracking the fleet-footed winger for a while and is looking forward to seeing him link up with the rest of the Liverpool squad.

“His record in Italy has been outstanding and he possesses qualities that will enhance our team and squad. I have followed him since he emerged at Basel and he has matured into a really good player.

“He is an ambitious player who wants to win and win at the highest level; he knows he can fulfil those ambitions with Liverpool,” Klopp added.
