Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are gearing up for the clash of the millennium, the most-talked group stage match of the ICC Champions Trophy to be held at Birmingham on Sunday.

Ahead of the intense clash, veteran India pacer Irfan Pathan has put his bet on Team India, keeping in view their inevitable bowling lineup.

“I am pretty confident that India will go in as the favourites and come out with flying colours,” Pathan said as quoted by IANS.

Head-to-head, Pakistan hold a 2-1 lead over India in the Champions Trophy. However, the men-in-blue outshine them in the overall meetings at the ICC events, having won 10 out of the 11 in all.

Pathan feels that such records matter in a cricket match, though can be turned upside down if leaders fail to capitalise on advantage.

“Such advantages or disadvantages get an edge only to a certain extent. But it all boils down to how you tackle the situation during the match,” he added.

Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India defeated Australia by five runs to lift their second Champions Trophy title in 2013.

The 32-year-old bowler compared the current Virat Kohli-led side to the previous season line-up, claiming that the current one is even more spirited.

“Even during the 2013 Champions Trophy, the Indian team was a far better side and this time around, too, we have a complete team which is much better than the Pakistanis at the moment,” Pathan said.
