Chelsea are said to be readying an improved offer for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney after their original £30m bid was turned down.
Jose Mourinho has made the 27-year-old forward his No 1 transfer target this summer, with the Blues set to offer £40m in an attempt to prise him away from Old Trafford.
Rooney, meanwhile, is set to make his first United appearances since May – in a pre-season friendly with AIK Stockholm on Tuesday and Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial on Friday.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo gave fans at the first football match ever at Dodger Stadium what they wanted Saturday, scoring one goal and aiding another in Real Madrid’s 2-1 friendly win over Everton.
More then 40,000 spectators turned out at the 51-year-old baseball stadium nestled in Los Angeles’ Chavez Ravine.
