England all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the fourth ODI against West Indies as the police arrested him on Monday in Bristol.

“Stokes was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning, 25 September, following an incident in Bristol,” the England Cricket Board said in a statement.

The board added that the 26-year-old southpaw batsman was held overnight and released under investigation, without charge, late on Monday.

Stokes’ teammate Alex Hales will also miss Wednesday’s match as he also returned to Bristol to help police with their inquiries into the incident.

“Hales, who was with Stokes on Sunday night, didn’t train this morning and has returned voluntarily to Bristol today to help police with their inquiries,” the ECB added.

The English cricket body couldn’t give much clarity on the incident but ensured it will publish updates whenever it gets. “You will understand that we cannot offer further detail at this stage but will provide any updates when we can.”

According to Avon and Somerset police, Stokes was arrested for allegedly injuring a man in fight.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue,” the police said in a statement, .
