Here are five health facts about drinking coffee, according to latest studies.

1 Drinking coffee may reduce death risk in kidney disease patients

“Advising patients with CKD to drink more caffeine may reduce their mortality. This would represent a simple, clinically beneficial, and inexpensive option,” Miguel Bigotte Vieira from Centro Hospitalar Lisboa Norte, Portugal, said.

2 Drinking coffee may make heart patients live longer

Scientists have found that drinking coffee may lower the risk of death due to heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes. The study was published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.  The chlorogenic acid in green coffee helps to reduce weight and risks of heart diseases.

3 Drinking coffee can reduce diabetes risk

“Cafestol may contribute to the reduced risk of developing Type-2 diabetes in coffee consumers and is a good candidate for drug development to treat or prevent the disease in humans,” researchers at the University of Southern California, US, say in a study.

4 Drinking coffee can help treat infections

Rich in free radical-combating antioxidants, drinking green coffee is said to help treat bacterial infections and promotes better detoxification of harmful matters in the body.

5 Drinking coffee can keep your liver healthy and functioning well

Drinking more coffee helps in reducing liver damage that is caused by over indulging in food and alcohol. Researchers estimated one cup a day lowers the risk of ‘cirrhosis’ by 22 per cent, but it declined 57 per cent for three cups.
