The Tatas have no intention to move out of West Bengal, Tata group chairman Cyrus Mistry said today while speaking at the annual general meeting of one of the group companies.
"Tatas have never left West Bengal. We will  never leave West Bengal as a group," he asserted.
The remark acquired significance in view of the Supreme Court’s observation last week asking the Tatas whether there was any point in the Tata Motors continuing to hold on to the Singur land acquired by the previous Left Front government for the now aborted small car project. Mr Mistry, however,  hastened to add: “The matter is sub-judice (being heard in court)  and we do not want to discuss it at this stage.”
