Continuing Monday&’s gains, Indian equity markets closed the Tuesday trading session almost flat with positive bias amid positive global cues.

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) provisionally gained 45 points to close at 26,079 while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) advanced four points to close at 7929.

In the broader markets, BSE MidCap index jumped 0.4 per cent while SmallCap index slipped 0.1 per cent.

Bajaj Auto emerged as the top gainer, in the Sensex-30 pack, with a jump of 2 per cent, while, Bhel became the lead losers with a dip of 1.8 per cent despite the commissioning of the Prayagraj power project unit in Uttar Pradesh.

On the currency front, the Rupee broke its eight-day gaining streak and is trading 23 paise lower at 66.35 against the US Dollar.
