Patna, 5 December: Five minor girls from three different families in Bihar were killed  by unidentified gunmen last night when they were asleep. The incident occurred at Sonath village in central Bihar&’s Gaya district. A family dispute over a small plot of land is stated to be the reason behind the massacre.
The victims have been identified as Sweetie Kumari (14), Reshma Kumari (12), Julie Kumari (15), Manisha Kumari (12) and Amisha Kumari (8).
The girls belonging to three different families, were kept in one house by their parents, who had fled the village following some personal rivalry, Additional Superintendent of Police (Gaya) Ashok Kumar said.
A villager Shambhu Singh had lodged a complaint with police against the three families over some personal dispute, Mr Kumar said.
Police said all the male  members were away when the assailants attacked the house to settle personal scores. The male members are absconding for fear of being arrested.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the attackers and have arrested one person.                                     SNS
