THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 15 JUNE: The high voltage revelation of Mr Biju Radhakrishan, the live-in-partner of Ms Sarita Nair who is in judicial custody on the case that the couple had cheated several investors offering the partnership in the “paper” company launched by them for installing windmills and solar power system, has shocked Kerala and may change the political destiny of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Mr Radhakrishnan, who is on the run, disclosed to a Malayalam TV channel that he with Ms Nair had met Mr Chandy seeking his help to detract the then forest minister K B Ganesh Kumar from the illicit relation he had with Ms Nair. He claims to have told Mr Chandy that the relationship has destroyed their family life and their business. The CM had promised to intervene in the issue and the meeting lasted for over one hour. He said Congress MP I Shanawas had arranged the meeting with Mr Chandy.
Mr Shanawas admitted that he had arranged the audience unable to withstand the pressure by a Mr Radhkrishnan for the meeting to discuss his family matters. The MP says he first met Mr Radhakrishnan when he had approached him with a project to install solar power system in his constituency of Wayanad with a substantial tribal population. These revelations have driven Mr Chandy further into trouble. Mr Chandy, pleading innocence in the issue, has tried to save his face by sacking a personal assistant and a gunman. He vowed that he hadn’t met the couple. Worse, they will add more ammunition to the CPM-led Opposition&’s attack on the CM demanding his resignation and a judicial probe into the whole affair.
Surprisingly, neither Mr Chandy nor Mr Kumar have made any statement on Mr Radhakrishan&’s claim. Mr Kumar resigned last month following the allegation by his wife that he had an affair with her friend and had been physically and mentally torturing her. Mr Chandy then escaped narrowly after Mr Kumar&’s wife alleged that Mr Chandy refused to accept her written complaint against Mr Kumar. Mr Radhakrishnan has also said Ms Nair had met Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal when he was the minister of State in the power ministry.
