Three Pakistani terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT) were on Tuesday killed in an encounter with security forces in Magam area of Handwara.

The J&K DGP SP Vaid said all the three eliminated terrorists were Pakistan nationals.

Security forces on the basis of intelligence inputs launched a cordon and search operation in the area that falls in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir.

The terrorists opened fire at the joint team of Army, CRPF and J&K police as they reached near the place where the ultras were hiding. This led to the encounter in which these terrorists were killed.

Police said that another encounter began in the afternoon in the village Zurhama also in the Kupwara district. Men of the 21 Rajputana Rifles, J&K Police and 98 Battalion of CRPF were engaged in the encounter and details were awaited.

The security forces had on Saturday eliminated six top terrorists of the LeT.

Killing of LeT terrorists in the North Kashmir indicates that Pakistan was pushing in trained terrorists through the Northern areas of the LoC where the mountain routes are getting covered under the snow and will become completely inaccessible in the next few days as the cold increases. Pakistan’s strategy has been to facilitate infiltration of terrorists before the mountain passes get blocked due to snow in winters.
