Police has beefed up security ahead of the second phase of polls, after recovery of explosives from the Maoist-affected Gariyaband district of Left wing extremism-affected Chhattisgarh.
Fourteen tiffin bombs and live cartridges, besides other “Maoist-related items” were recovered after an encounter with Maoists in the Chuura police station limits of Gariyaband bordering, Odisha, police said.
The encounter between security forces from the Mahasamund district and the Maoists took place in the forests of the Gaurmudi village, after which explosives were recovered, Mahasamund Superintendent of Police, Mr Deepak Jha told PTI.
Security forces were mobilised from Komakhan police station limits of Mahsamund along the interstate border of Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the operation, the Superintendent of Police said.
