A day after being picked as the NDA nominee for the presidential election, Ram Nath Kovind resigned as Bihar Governor on Tuesday. West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has been given the additional charge of Bihar till the new appointment is made.
Earlier in the day, Kovind met Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The BJP surprised one and all by announcing Kovind as NDA’s pick for the presidential poll. Political pundits say Opposition parties have no choice but to accept Kovind or put up another Dalit candidate against him. The Dalit card played by BJP makes Kovind’s appointment as the next President of India imminent, experts say.
