A shoe was thrown at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. 

The shoe flew close past Gandhi’s head. UP Police immediately took the shoe thrower, identified as Hari Om Mishra, into custody and interrogated him in the Kotwali police station. 

At the time of the attack, various Congress leaders, including Jitin Prasada was with the Gandhi scion. Special Protection Group (SPG) men swung into action and surrounded the Gandhi after the shoe attack.

Currently, the Congress vice president is campaigning for the upcoming Assembly polls in UP.
