In the first such action India on Thursday carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the Line of Control LoC with the Army’s special forces inflicting quot;significant casualtiesquot; on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied KashmirPoK.

In a joint conference by the Defence Ministry and the External Affairs Ministry Director General Military Operations DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said the raid was carried out late last night.

quot;I spoke to the Pak DGMO shared our concerns and I told him that based on specific information that some terrorists were at launch pads aiming to infiltrate we conducted surgical strikes last nightquot; Singh said.

quot;Significant casualties were caused to terrorists and those supporting themquot; he added.nbsp;

Asserting that during cross-border terror acts the recovered materials had Pakistani marking on them Singh said quot;During terror attacks we have recovered GPS weapons with Pakistan markings further captured terrorists have confessed training in Pakistan.quot;

quot;Despite our persistent urging to Pakistan to not allow territory under its control to not be used for terrorist activities nothing was donequot; Singh added.nbsp;

The DGMO highlighted that the continuing infiltration bid by terrorists across LoC is a matter of serious concern.nbsp;

The Army has been on high alert following the September 18 Uri terror attack which left 18 soldiers dead after a group of four terrorists stormed the Army base and opened fire.nbsp;
