In a major development to the National Herald Case, all the accused involved in the case, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, filed their reply on Saturday and opposed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy's plea seeking summoning of witnesses.

The Patiala House Court heard the National Herald case against the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly conspiring to cheat in a land deal.

An application in this matter was filed by Swamy in 2012, accusing Sonia, Rahul and others associated with the Congress in the case.

He had alleged that the Congress had granted an interest-free loan of Rs.90.25 crore to the AJL, established by Jawaharlal Nehru, which was either not repaid or repaid in case.

In August 2016, the local court had issued notice to Sonia and Rahul and five other accused in the case.

The next hearing in this case will be heard on April 22.
