Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Tuesday said he has asked the state government to provide the credentials of seven persons that it has recommended for the state legislative council.

A list was handed over by Samajwadi Party in which seven names have been included for the nomination as members of state legislative council.

He has not disapproved the list but sent it back to the government to know the credentials of all the persons mentioned on it.

He was talking to the media at Vardhman Puram Digambar Jain Rishabhanchal Ashram near village Morta at Delhi Meerut Road.

The governor said that he is already flooded with recommendations for the appointment of political workers as MLCs, adding, he is new to the state and will approve the list after due examination.

Only the persons related to the field of art, culture, science and social work will be nominated for state legislative council.

Prior to this, Naik inaugurated the function by lighting of lamp.

He gave away 19th Rishabh Dev Awards to ten police personnel as chief guest for recovering the precious stolen idols of lord Mahavir.
