All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (AIADMK) general secretary J Jayalalithaa was on Monday sworn in as chief minister of Tamil Nadu by Governor K Rosaiah. The AIADMK chief became the chief minister of the state for the second consecutive term. 

The swearing in ceremony was held  at Madras University&’s Centenary Hall at 12 noon. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu represented the Union government at the event. Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (DMK) leader MK Stalin also attended the swearing-in ceremony. 

Proving exit polls wrong, the AIADMK returned to power, winning 134 seats in the 234-member assembly.
