Warrant againt Raj Thackeray cancelled
MUMBAI, 12 JUNE: A local court today cancelled the warrant issued against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray (file photo) after he appeared in a case registered against him for violence during Railway Recruitment Board examinations at a college in suburban Bandra in October 2008. The warrant was issued on 10 June as Mr Thackeray had failed to appear before the Bandra court. However, he appeared today following which the warrant was cancelled. pti
Militants call off stir in Manipur
IMPHAL, 12 JUNE: Kuki militants, who were to begin an indefinite road blockade between Imphal and Ukhrul district headquarters, have called off the stir following an appeal from various social organisations. The blockade was to start from 6 p.m. yesterday. “We received an appeal from Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (a Tangkhul Naga social organisation), Kuki Students Organisation (Ukhrul) and others to call off the indefinite road blockade,” Kuki National Assembly leader Rex Kuki told reporters this morning. pti
LDF walkout from Kerala Assembly
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 12 JUNE: The CPI-M led LDF Opposition today staged a walkout from the Kerala Assembly accusing the Congress-led UDF government of having failed in tackling the unprecedented price rise which caused severe hardship to all sections of people. Countering the opposition charge, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said though the price rise was a reality, the state government had taken effective steps to lessen its impact on people, especially in the case of their staple food grain rice. pti
