Kozhikode, 13 JUNE: Fifteen kg of narcotic drug Methacquone, valued at Rs 3 crore in the international market, has been seized from a man by Air Customs Intelligence officials at Karippur international airport.

Jiah suicide: Suraj seeks bail
Mumbai, 13 JUNE: Suraj Pancholi, held on the charge of abetting the suicide of actress Jiah Khan, today moved a sessions court for bail after he was remanded in judicial custody till 27 June by a magistrate. The bail application is likely to come up for hearing before a Sessions Court tomorrow, sources said.
Suraj has pleaded in the bail application that his custodial interrogation was not required at this juncture as police had already recorded statements of witnesses and recovered some articles from his house to prove the case. pti
Girl defies panchayat order, set afire
Deoria (UP), 13 JUNE: Four villagers today set afire a 19-year-old girl after she defied a panchayat order to sever ties with a youth with whom she was in love, police said. The incident took place at Karhakol village in Ekauna area. The girl, who was in love with one Ranjit, was asked by the village panchayat and the youth’s family to sever ties with him but she ignored their order and stayed in touch with the boy. Irked over her defiance, four villagers today barged into her house, sprinkled kerosene on her and set her on fire, police said. The girl in a bid to save herself rushed to the terrace and fell from there. She was taken to a nearby hospital with 80 per cent burn injuries. Police have arrested two persons in this connection. pti
