Gujarat polls: Dynasty, casteism won’t work in Gujarat, says Shah

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Tuesday said “dynasty” and “casteism” will not work in Gujarat as he expressed confidence of winning over 150 of the 182 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Addressing a public gathering in Bhavnagar, Shah said: “I am confident that we will get overwhelming majority, more than 150 seats, in this election. Dynasty and casteism will not work in Gujarat.”

Shah who later accompanied Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani to file his nomination papers from Bhavnagar west assembly seat challenged Congress to fight the elections on real issues.

“They (Congress) have no real issues to fight on and just want to oppose PM Modi… The Congress only believes in politics of appeasement and votebank whereas the BJP believes in development, it’s upto you to choose the right party to head the state,” he said.

Gujarat Assembly elections will be held in two phases on 7 and 14 December and the results will be declared on 18 December along with Himachal Assembly elections result.

The first phase will cover 89 constituencies in 19 districts, and the second phase 93 seats in 14 districts.
