President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday said the country will progress faster if more opportunities are provided to girls in the field of education.

Addressing the 7th convocation of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) in Lucknow, Kovind said: “The country will progress faster if we provide more opportunities to our daughters when it comes to education.”

However, there was much more to be done to deal with social and economic challenges as well as in the areas of science and technology, said Kovind who is on a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow and Allahabad.

“When the country moves forward, he said, every citizen benefits and gets opportunities for personal development,” said the president.

Kovind further called upon the students to be entrepreneurs – becoming job creators rather than just job seekers.

He advised them to follow the path of ethics and principles to attain true success in whichever walk of life they chose.

He said there could be no ambiguity or scope for argument on ethics, quoting a line to say: “Relativity applies to physics, not ethics.”

Kovind noted with satisfaction the rapid progress the country was making and also inaugurated Ambedkar Bhawan on the University campus.

Established on January 10, 1996, BBAU is one of the premier central Universities in the country and has jurisdiction over the entire state of Uttar Pradesh.
