LUCKNOW, 27 JUNE: Five people, including two children, were killed in rain-related incidents since last evening in Uttar Pradesh where a flood-like situation prevailed in several districts.
A seven-year-old boy and a man, aged 35, were killed when lightning struck them in Chitrakoot and Sultanpur districts respectively, officials said. A 12-year-old girl was swept away by the swirling water of the Ganga in the Sahaswan area in Badaun district.
A house collapse killed two women in Amethi district, the officials said. Floods had affected 134 villages in Lakhimpur and 32 in Sitapur districts, the Relief Commissioner Office said. The river Sharda was flowing above the danger mark at Paliakalan in Lakhimpur district, according to the Central Water Commission.
The Ghaghra too was flowing above the red mark at Elgin bridge in Barabanki, it said, adding it was also rising at Ayodhya. The Ganga was rising at Fathgarh, Mirzapur, Ballia, Varanasi and Ghazipur.
