These farmers have over 5 thousand Beegha agricultural land in the plains of river Yamuna in Baghpat which has been demarcated as border between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.  Furthermore, the changing course of river Yamuna often causes rift between the farmers of Sonepat(Haryana) and Baghpat (UP) over the ownership of land.

Farmers feel their land has been encroached over the years and despite of the repeated request from the administration, the issue remains unresolved.  Every time they tried to get back their land from the Haryana farmers they are being thrashed, they claimed.

Jai Prakash, SP of Baghpat, however, clarified that issue is related to revenue department and police have limited role of maintaining the issue of law and order. ” On the complaint of these farmers,  the district magistrate had directed officials of revenue department to resolve the matter and contact officials in Haryana , ” said  Jai Prakash , SP Baghpat, adding  that the matter is of revenue department and the police have  little role in it.
