Congress has dared, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release the list of those Congressmen, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claims to be holding benami properties in the name of their cooks, drivers.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday, Deputy leader of Opposition, Anand Sharma, confronted Modi, not only to name them but also arrest them.

He said, “Prime Minister has made an irresponsible statement of crackdown on benami properties that has left Congress worried. It is in his nature to make announcement in a dramatic manner, which is a kind of a disorder. I challenge him and urge him to release the list by evening.”

Were they in slumber in the last three and a half years, he questioned.

The Congress has called 8 November for India as black day and marking the first anniversary of demonetisation, they are holding protest against the move countrywide.

Blaming PM for reckless decisions, he said it was a year ago, on this date, that the Modi had announced the ‘Tuglaki Farman’ of demonetisation, which has shattered the Indian economy.”

Modi had taken individual decision, without cabinet discussion and even without the recommendation of the Reserve Bank of India.

He had justified his action by stating four reasons for his action claiming that it was aimed at curbing black money, corruption, counterfeit currency and terror funding, however, all the drive was a failure, proving all his claims to be wrong.

Till date the Central government has failed to disclose that the 99 per cent of demonetised notes currency that was returned, how it was black money.

Besides, there is no currency in the world that is not counterfeited and even the dollar the currency of America is not immune to it, he added.

The wrong decision affected the poor of the nation, more than 143 people lost their lives owing to demonetisation, he said.

Having inflicted grievous injuries on country’s economy, both Modi and Finance minister Arun Jaitley are squarely to be blamed and held accountable for derailing a healthy economy and bringing misery to the people, he charged.

Both should tender an apology, however, Modi continues to remain in arrogance and denial without any remorse for his irresponsible decision, he added. Modi had paid no heed and also not taken any corrective measures, despite former UPA PM Manmohan Singh had cautioned them after the decision was taken.

Charging Modi government of being selective in taking action when it comes to corruption, he said that they were sheltering their own people, while targeting the Opposition.

“While the debts or interest of the framers, poor and loans of students are not being waived, however, the government is busy in debt free structuring of big corporate,” he charged. Modi’s actions and decisions have only helped in promoting big money, crony capitalism, he added.
