A visiting Chinese Parliamentary delegation led by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang will call on Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday.

The delegation would also meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an official release said on Sunday.

Mahajan had met the Chinese President Xi Jinping during his three day visit to India in September last year and had emphasised the need for regular exchange of parliamentary delegations between India and China.

Recently, she had also attended the third meeting of the Preparatory Panel to Inter Parliamentary Union’s (IPU’s) Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva and called for reform of the United Nations Security Council.

Mahajan, who is a member on the IPU, was the first participating Speaker advocating the reform of UN Security Council, the release said.

In a significant development, other participating Speakers and their representatives, particularly from China, Russia, Germany, Kenya and UAE, had endorsed the amendment suggested by India to the draft declaration of the World Conference, the release added.
