New Delhi, 15 November
The Central Bureau of Investigation today initiated a probe into an alleged multi-crore scam of Delhi Jal Board related to water treatment plant and installation of water meters.
According to the CBI, three probes have been initiated into alleged framing of tender conditions to suit contenders. Another preliminary enquiry (PE) has been registered to look into irregularities in quality testing and installation of water supply meters bought from a private company.
Three PEs were registered by the agency to look into a public-private partnership project with a European firm for uninterrupted water supply to Nangloi, Malviya Nagar and Mehrauli. The CBI suspects that tender conditions for the project were “tailor-made” to suit bidders.
For the contract of the Mehrauli project, an inquiry has been started against unknown officials of DJB, SPML Infra, Suez Environment, Veolia Water India Limited, Shiv Marwah and Jalakam Solutions. In the Malviya Nagar project, a preliminary probe has started against unknown officials of DJB, Suez Environment, SPML Infra, Veolia Water India Limited, DRA Consultants and Shah Technical.
