Another case of alleged suicide attempt due to online game — Blue Whale Challenge — has surfaced in the country when a 17-year-old girl from Jodhpur was rescued from Kaylana Lake in Rajasthan on late Monday night.

According to sources, when rescued by police and locals from the lake, the girl bore a mark of whale-like figure on her arm and had reportedly downloaded the game a few of days ago.

The girl was allegedly trying to finish the final task of the online game.

The daughter of a Border Security Force Personnel (BSF), the girl had left her home on Monday night to complete the final task of the challenge. She was spotted circling the lake multiple times by the locals, thus raising caution to her movements.

“She told us that if she didn’t complete the challenge then something untoward could happen to her mother and rest of the family. The girl told us that she was at the final stage of the task,” said police.

The government has issued an advisory about the online game and police teams across states are working with schools to counsel teenagers.

Several states are struggling with checking the spread of the deadly game and blacking out the links of the game that originated in Russia.

More than 100 Blue Whale challenge deaths have been reported across the world.

The game draws in people, mostly children and teenagers, through online chat rooms.

The administrator singles out vulnerable candidates and switches to a private chat mode where the player has to take up 50 tasks. These include self harm and isolation, listening to disturbing songs, spending time in graveyards, watching horror movies and finally, jumping off a building. For the last task, the player is given a choice – kill yourself or watch someone close die.
