Facing heat from several of its legislators raising a banner of revolt over the alleged step-motherly treatment of their respective constituencies, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana faced more embarrassment on Friday with the Opposition taking potshots at the ruling party by raising the issue in the on-going Budget Session of the Assembly.

Even many of the BJP lawmakers raised the issue inside and outside the Assembly by complaining that they were being overlooked by their own government, its officials and their needs to be a check on corruption. Party's internal strife came to the fore on Friday when its Uchana Kalan MLA, Premlata Singh, raised the issue during her speech on the governor's address.

"Government officers do not pay attention to the legislators' demands, the bureaucrats just look at the papers forwarded to them and do nothing," added Singh, who is the wife of Union Steel Minister, Birender Singh.

Even the Congress party too mocked the BJP over its internal differences. Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhary made fun of revolt by several BJP MLAs alleging that they were not being heard by their own government.

Even at a stage, when the BJP legislators were making noise on an issue, former Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian looked at Speaker Kanwarpal Gurjar and said, "Even the Chief Minister (CM) fails to bridle these legislators (BJP), how could you handle them."

However, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said there was no revolt in the party. Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Premlata Singh and BJP legislator from Rewari, Randhir Singh Kapriwas maintained their stand saying that a section of BJP legislators were being ignored by the official machinery.

Nearly 16 MLAs of the BJP expressing their displeasure over the working of the state government, held a meeting with the CM at his residence late on Thursday evening. The meeting, however, went fruitless and now these legislators plan to meet BJP national president Amit Shah after declaration results of the Assembly elections on March 11.

One of these, BJP's Gurugram MLA Umesh Aggarwal told The Statesman that CM has assured them of correcting the things and they would also like to meet Shah if an appointment is fixed.
