The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will observe a nationwide protest, “Dhokha Divas”, on 8 November to mark the completion of one year of demonetisation.
While talking to the media, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that the party would hold a nationwide protest on 8 November to highlight the economic distress after the “unpopular” decision taken by the BJP government to ban the higher currency notes last year.
Terming it as “Dhokha Divas”, Singh said that none of the reasons given by the BJP for demonetisation was achieved.
“The Modi government has deceived people of India. The youth has become unemployed, farmers are committing suicide, traders are out of business,” Singh said.
Singh said that on 8 November 2016, the Prime Minister in the name of “bringing back black money and stopping terror funding”, decided to push this country into an economic disaster.
“None of these objectives given by the BJP against this move were achieved. It was just a plot to be-fool the people of this country,” he said.
On 8 November 2016, the Modi government announced demonetisation, commonly called ‘notebandi’, of all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 bank notes.
