Thaawarchand Gehlot takes oath as Karnataka’s new Governor
Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, his cabinet colleagues, MPs, legislators and leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah were present on the occasion.
In a major CSR initiative, Airport Authority of India (AAI) has sponsored cochlear implant surgeries for 115 children with profound hearing loss under their CSR project implemented by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO).
AAI and ALIMCO signed an MoU in September to conduct the surgeries. The cochlear implant surgeries are done through Ali Yavar Jang National Institute of Speech and Language Disabilities (Divyangjan), Mumbai, under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Post operative rehabilitation is undertaken by audiologists and speech language pathologists and special educators of hearing impaired.
At a press meet and CSR summit on 14 December, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot was the chief guest. Senior officials of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilites, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, were also present.
