Modi, Yogi Adityanath top choices for campaigning among Uttarakhand BJP nominees
Party leaders want at least three rallies each of Adityanath and Modi in the next 25 days of the campaign as the state will undergo polling on April 19.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi for lunch with Mauritius premier Anerood Jugnauth on Saturday. The development is significant as Nitish had skipped the Friday luncheon hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the leaders of all anti-BJP forces. This happened despite Nitish had fought the last Bihar assembly election in alliance with the Congress.
There are murmurs in the political circles that he may again ‘align’ with the BJP after having fallen out with the saffron party ahead of the Bihar assembly election in 2015.
Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) fought the last assembly polls by forging an alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. The alliance had won decisively. A son of Lalu is the deputy chief minister in the state and another is a cabinet minister.
