He is the ‘first superstar’ of the Hindi film industry. He wooed all with his good looks, and married a much younger actress before her debut film even hit the silver screen. Today, we mark his birth anniversary, three years after he left us all for his heavenly abode – Rajesh Khanna. Remembering the late actor, Rishi Kapoor, Mamata Banerjee and Rajshri Productions took to Twitter to post their heartfelt messages.

While Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor doesn’t have a social media account, his father Rishi is an avid user of microblogging website Twitter. The Chandni actor shared a sketch of ‘Kaka’ with the caption "Remembering on his birth anniversary, Kakaji (Rajesh Khanna). The original King of Romance! 29-12-42/18-7-12."

Well, the Barsaat actor has many fans and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also his admirer. "Remembering the legendary actor Rajesh Khanna on his birth anniversary. He will always be immortal in our hearts," Mamata tweeted.

Sharing a video of Rajesh’s evergreen songs, Rajshri Productions tweeted, "#HappyBirthday to the legendary actor #RajeshKhanna !"

Rajesh, first named Jatin Khanna, lived a lavish lifestyle. He married Dimple Kapadia and the couple was blessed with two daughters- Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna. The two separated, but never completed their divorce proceedings. The versatile actor made his debut with Aakhri Khat. Anand, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Bawarchi  were among his hit films. He was posthumously awarded India’s third highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan.
