Lucknow Central has been in news for its huge jail set which was erected in Film City.

The cast and crew of Lucknow Central had to face many challenges while shooting for the film on the set.

A 2-acre set was designed to recreate Lucknow jail on a huge landscape. The vast Film City studio in Goregaon which is popular for huge sets had a massive set up for Farhan Akhtar-starrer Lucknow Central. It took around three months to build the set from scratch.

While shooting, the actors had to be confined to 4 walls at all times during the shoot. Shooting on a set which is constructed as a prison has its own psychological effects.

Farhan and his 4 inmates, infact started feeling actual claustrophobia and as if they were in a real prison.

Farhan has been known for his roles in movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Dil Dhakhne Do. Interestingly, most of his movies have been shot on real outdoor locations. Hence shooting on a set for an extended period was a different experience for the actor.

The cast of Lucknow Central faced a strange set of challenges while shooting the film. A two-acre set, resembling the asli Lucknow Central Jail, was erected over a span of three months at a suburban studio in Mumbai. The cast, including Farhan Akhtar, Gippy Grewal, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma, Diana Penty, Rohit Roy and Innamulhaq, spent an extensive period shooting there.

Farhan, known to get into the skin of his characters, plays a Bhojpuri singer in the Ranjit Tiwari directorial, for which he even picked up the nuances of the dialect. However, this wasn’t as difficult for the actor, known for his performances in films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Farhan Akhtar shares, “Most of the films I have worked on have been shot at outdoor locations. Lucknow Central was a different experience for me in itself. Shooting at a set that is constructed to resemble a very real prison has its own psychological effects. During the intensive and long schedule that lasted for over a month, we would shoot between 8 to 12 hours per day being majorly confined within the four walls during the shoot. Stepping out of those walls to get some air was actually a relief for us and this entire shoot got us thinking about the people who do not have the choice to come out at all.”

‘Lucknow Central’ is a film that thrives on ambition, passion, friendship, and determination.

Ever since the trailer has released, the audience are high on anticipation to witness such an amazing storyline.

The songs from the film have always created a huge impact on the audience.

Produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Emmay Entertainment and Motion Pictures, the film is directed by Ranjit Tiwari and is slated to release on 15th September 2017.
